Fall Bright, The Winemakers Shoppe, 10110 Hyatt Hill, Dundee, NY 14837 March 29, 2007 From: <winemaking@fallbright.com> Along the way we have taken advantage of the cold to get our wines stable and ready to bottle. Our wines are made on an amateur basis usually in 5 gallon carboys. (We are not a commercial winery!) We desperately need to get some reds in the bottle! We can definitely identify with our customers. Many of our suggestions are from our own experiences. Through-out the year we go to wine tastings that our AWS (American Wine Society) Keuka Chapter members host. It is a great way to taste wines of the world or region or of a particular variety. We recently tasted 8 Rieslings. Of course, some were better than others and only one was faulty. It was an educational tasting with many different finishes of the same variety. This is something any amateur winemaker should do. Join a chapter if there is one near you or start a chapter or club to enjoy the some tasting experience. To contact the AWS go to www.americanwinesociety.com and scroll around. Check on the chapters to see if there are any near you and start tasting, learning about wine and what you like. We (Tom) also breeds purebred Gordon setter (field) dogs and we have just had a litter March 27th., 2006. Mother and 9 puppies are doing well. Welcome to the world of making your own wine. |
